Vines and Wines
Grape varieties grown are Gamay Perugino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Grigio, Trebbiano Spoletino. As said, in 2000, vineyards have been replanted since the existing training system was not compatible with the search for low yields and quality that Roberto Lepri had in mind. The choice of international varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, came naturally in a region where these varieties are considered “almost native”, have always given excellent results and are strongly characterized. Then came Pinot Grigio, for many years widely experienced in Umbria and, for Cantina Lepri, one of the top wines. As for Gamay, this varietal is present throughout the area of Lake Trasimeno and Perugia. Gamay, together with Trebbiano Spoletino, last one to be planted, are the native element that Roberto Lepri decided to include in his production.
